# Tank storage and shipping, coordinated as one plan Web page: https://northpacificenergy.com/tank-storage-shipping-solutions/ (Spanish: https://northpacificenergy.com/es/almacenamiento-y-transporte/; French: https://northpacificenergy.com/fr/stockage-et-transport-maritime/) Between purchase and delivery a cargo has to be stored, handled and shipped. We arrange those steps with third-party terminal operators and carriers and keep every party on the same schedule. ## Tank storage Storage gives a trade room to work: time to complete inspection, assemble a cargo or wait for a vessel. ### Access and terminal coordination - Access to terminals suited to the product - Short-term and long-term arrangements - Liaison with the terminal's operations team - Help with storage documents and procedures ### Product handling and inventory - Coordination of receipt and transfer - Support with tank allocation - Inventory records through the storage period - Attention to product integrity while in tank ### Link to the supply chain - Storage planned around the trade's dates - Coordination between seller, terminal, carrier and buyer - One line of communication for all parties ## Shipping A sea shipment runs in a fixed order. We follow each stage with the parties responsible for it. 1. **Vessel and loading window**: The vessel is nominated and a window agreed with the terminal for it to arrive and load. 2. **Loading**: Product moves from shore tank to ship through the jetty. Quantity and quality are measured and certified. 3. **Documents**: The bill of lading and the cargo documents are issued at the loading port and sent on to the buyer's side. 4. **Voyage and discharge**: The vessel gives notice of arrival, berths at the destination terminal and discharges into the buyer's tanks. ## Who does what Storage and transport are provided by specialist operators under their own contracts. Our part is the coordination that runs beneath all five. 1. Source **Seller**: Supplies the product and its quality certificate. 2. Storage **Terminal operator**: Receives, stores and handles the product. 3. Transport **Carrier**: Loads the cargo and carries it by sea. 4. Delivery **Discharge port**: Berths the vessel and receives the cargo. 5. Market **Buyer**: Takes delivery and pays under the contract. **North Pacific Energy**Coordination, scheduling and document follow-up across every handover ## Terms you will meet - **Laycan:** The span of days within which the vessel must arrive and be ready to load. - **Laytime:** The time the contract allows for loading or discharging the cargo. - **Demurrage:** The charge payable to the shipowner when laytime is exceeded. - **Ullage:** The empty space above the liquid in a tank, measured to calculate the quantity on board. - **Bill of lading:** The carrier's receipt for the cargo. It also serves as the document of title. - **Notice of readiness:** The master's notice that the vessel has arrived and is ready to load or discharge. ## Planning a cargo that needs storage?
